SUPERMAN RETURNS

Speaking of comic book movies that dominated Australia last year, there's an article at About.com featuring Ma Kent, actress Eva Marie Saint. "I was in the very beginning of that when they first started shooting," Saint said, telling a story about her interaction with Routh. "What is the name of that new camera? Genesis. ItÕs not film. It was the very beginning of the movie and Brandon Routh [and I] had this emotional scene. He has to come home after five years. HeÕs been gone and we played this emotional scene, the first time that we were really working together. We went on for about an hour and then the cinematographer said, 'I'm sorry, I didn't get it.' ItÕs not like you check to see the film. Somebody just wasnÕt doing their job." According to the story this frazzled the Routh, but Saint went into maternal mode. "I said, 'No, no, no. Just take a deep breath. Just make believe youÕre doing Broadway, you're going to do the scene right over again. That was a rehearsal.'" Saint said that director Bryan Singer took the incident with good humor. "I remember Bryan Singer saying, 'Well, that cost us about $600,000 that hour.' So I was in the very beginning when they were working out the kinks and everything."

Meanwhile, you can make out some scene spoilers in the new statues from DC Direct.

OVER THE HEDGE

Over at M&C Movies there's a new trailer for the comic strip adaptation featuring the vocal talents of Bruce Willis, Steve Carrell, Avril Lavigne, and many more.

HELLBOY 2: THE GOLDEN ARMY

Director Guillermo del Toro took to the web over at his message board to clarify statements made by the film's star Ron Perlman. "Ron took a few liberties with the facts concerning the project," del Toro wrote. "Mike and I wrote the screen story together, and I wrote the script. But it is NOT based on anything yet published, but Mike felt it had a lot of elements he has been keen to explore in the future of HB. One bit of good news or all Abe fans. Abe has a really dramatic role in this new story."

WOLVERINE

Director Alexandre Aja told Now Playing Magazine that he wants to get dark with the ol' Canucklehead. "Wolverine has always been my favorite character. Hopefully Hugh Jackman will come and see HILLS, and if it's a success then I can maybe direct 'WOLVERINE.' 'WOLVERINE' has to be dark, and for me it's the last big superhero movie."

LEGION OF SUPER HEROES

The Fatal Five is taking shape, as Comics Continuum reports that Jennifer Hale is providing the voice of Emerald Empress. Her comic-book roles include Felicia Hardy/Black Cat in "Spider-Man," Lady Vermin in "Spider-Man Unlimited," Spider-Woman in "Iron Man" and Zatanna, Killer Frost and Giganta in "Justice League Unlimited."

X-MEN 3

Superhero Hype has some quotes from actor Vinnie Jones about playing Cain Marko. "He's a big tough guy," Jones said. "What is he, 6 foot 6? He has ridiculous strength and when he gets going he's unstoppable. Not even another Juggernaut could stop him head on you know. When he gets his helmet down he runs through walls as if they're not there."

WHO WANTS TO BE A SUPERHERO?

The Sci Fi Network has launched a website for the Stan Lee-led venture.
