New concept art has emerged from Sony's Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, years after the film's release, and it gives a much more gruesome look for the titular Marvel Comics anti-hero. Artist Jerad S.Marantz debuted the art, which you can check out below, on his Instagram account.

Years before Ghost Rider joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the supernatural character's cinematic rights were owned by Sony Pictures, which produced two films starring Nicolas Cage as the fiery, leather-clad demon. While the first film was relatively tame, Spirit of Vengeance took a balls-to-the-wall, over-the-top action approach under the guidance of Crank helmers Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, who adapted a script by David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight), Scott M. Gimple (The Walking Dead) and Seth Hoffman (Prison Break).

On a production budget estimated to be $57 million, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance earned over $132 million from the worldwide box office.
