The studios are hoping for huge box office returns with the long President's Day weekend. The three main releases will be Sony's Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, Fox's romantic comedy/action mash-up This Means War and Disney/Studio Ghibli's The Borrowers interpretation The Secret World of Arrietty. In what might be considered surprising projections, Variety reports the Brian Taylor and Mark Neveldine-directed Ghost Rider sequel starring Nic Cage will actually take the box office with $30 million.

The trade paper attribute these numbers to a growing interest from the under-25 crowd, which came out big time to make Chronicle number one the weekend of its release. Ghost Rider also has 3,174 screens on its side, including 2,352 in 3D, which will also bring up numbers.

However, it should be noted that, traditionally speaking, romantic comedies and family fare tend to do very well in theaters. On the other hand, Box Office Mojo reminds us that the original Ghost Rider pulled in $45,388,836 in its opening week in 2007. How will things shake down? We'll let you know on Tuesday.
