Ghost Protocol Video Spotlights Cruise's Mile-High Stunt Sequence

Teasing a new trailer for Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol, arriving later today -- yes, a teaser for a trailer -- Paramount Pictures has released a behind-the-scenes featurette called "Burj Khalifa."

That's, of course, the name of the world's tallest building, located in Dubai, featured so prominently in Ghost Protocol's IMAX poster and in the first trailer. The video shows director Brad Bird and Tom Cruise during the filming of the sequence, demonstrating, I suppose, that the star performed the stunts himself -- half a mile or so above the earth.

This is not just another mission. The IMF is shut down when it’s implicated in a global terrorist bombing plot. Ghost Protocol is initiated and Ethan Hunt and his rogue new team must go undercover to clear their organization’s name. No help, no contact, off the grid. You have never seen a mission grittier and more intense than this.

Produced by Cruise, J.J. Abrams and Paula Wagner, the fourth installment of the franchise also stars Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Paula Patton, Josh Holloway, Michael Nyqvist, Vladimir Mashkov, Lea Seydoux and Anil Kapoor. It opens in IMAX Dec. 16 in advance of a Dec. 21 wide release.
