The PlayStation-exclusive video game Ghost of Tsushima may have a sequel on the way, judging by the recent job listings from developer Sucker Punch Productions.

Sucker Punch is currently looking to fill two positions on a team focused on a mystery project: a senior combat designer and a technical combat designer role are up for grabs. Though no specific details about the project are provided, one of the apparent requirements listed is experience with Ghost of Tsushima. Specifically, the posting states, "Must have played Ghost of Tsushima and understand its core combat systems. "

Ghost of Tsushima was released in 2020 and, though it resembled stealth-action gameplay seen in game franchises such as Assassin's Creed, it distinguished itself by implementing different stances in combat, emphasizing timing and giving players the option of beginning combat areas with a "stand off." The game was well-received upon release, becoming the fastest-selling PlayStation-exclusive games. What made its success more noteworthy was the fact that Ghost of Tsushima was a new IP and not a sequel, spinoff or reboot of an established franchise.

Several months after the game's release, a multiplayer mode was added. Ghost of Tsushima: Legends centers on Japanese folklore and allows players to fight alongside one another or against each other as one of four classes-- Samurai, Hunter, Ronin or Assassin. The following year, in 2021, the Director's Cut was released, adding the Iki Island Expansion and a director's commentary, along with new customization options.

The success of Ghost of Tsushima led to a film adaptation, currently in the works. While details are scarce, it was previously reported that John Wick director Chad Stahelski is attached to the project as producer, with Alex Young and Jason Spitz from 87Eleven Entertainment. In addition, Sucker Punch Productions will executive produce the film, with Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan producing for PlayStation Production.

Upon the film's announcement, Qizilbash stated, "We're excited to be partnering with Chad and 87Eleven Entertainment, to bring their vision of Jin's story to the big screen. We love working with creative partners like Chad, who have a passion for our games, ensuring we can create rich adaptations that will excite our fans and new audiences."

Ghost of Tsushima is set during the Mongol invasion of Japan in the 13th century and follows the samurai Jin Sakai, last of Clan Sakai. Along with his uncle, Lord Shimura, and his many allies, Jin attempts to liberate Tsushima from the clutches of the ruthless general Khotun Khan.
