A new Ghost in the Shell manga -- titled Ghost in the Shell: The Human Algorithm -- is set to launch next month from the creative team of Jun'ichi Fujisaku and Hiroki Yoshimoto.

The Human Algorithm was first announced earlier this week within the pages of Young Magazine, a seinen manga anthology magazine from Japanese publisher Kodansha. The new Ghost in the Shell manga will debut as part of the magazine's upcoming Sept. 20 issue. Additionally, the manga will serialize a new chapter every two weeks in Kodansha's Comic Days app.

The new title is set after the events of Ghost in the Shell 1.5: Human-Error Processor (and presumably before Ghost in the Shell 2.) Fujisaku explains he is writing The Human Algorithm as if it were "Ghost in the Shell 1.75." The manga will focus on Section 9 following the disappearance of the Major. More specifically, it will closely follow the characters of Togusa, Batou, Azuma, Ishikawa and newcomer Tsunagi.

Fujisaku is certainly no stranger to the Ghost in the Shell series, having written for the anime series Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and its second season, Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG. Additionally, he supervised the multimedia project Ghost in the Shell: Arise, penning its manga tie-in.
