Former My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way has released his cover of Simon and Garfunkel's "A Hazy Shade of Winter," featured in the first trailer for Netflix's The Umbrella Academy.

The drama, about a family of superhero children who come together to solve the mystery of their adoptive father's death, and to stop the apocalypse, is based on the Dark Horse comic series created by Way and artist Gabriel Ba.

Accompanied by Ray Toro, the former lead guitarist of My Chemical Romance, the track draws inspiration from the Bangles' 1987 cover. The video release depicts an overhead shot of the rainy funeral scene depicted in the Umbrella Academy trailer.

In 2009, Way and My Chemical Romance released a cover of Bob Dylan's "Desolation Row," featured in Zack Snyder's adaptation of Watchmen. Snyder also directed the music video for that single.
