Voiced by George O'Hanlon, George Jetson is an iconic character that is easily recognizable by fans of all ages despite the decades since The Jetson's first aired. The shared excitement over the discovery of George's birthday expands over multiple generations of viewers and solidifies the lasting influence of classic Hanna-Barbera cartoons.

The fantastic futuristic world of The Jetson's isn't nearly as far away as fans felt. The show first aired on ABC on September 1962, and new episodes were produced up until 1987. At the time, ABC set the show as canonically taking place in 2062, exactly one hundred years after the show launched. That means that the quirky future shown in the show is only forty years away, and backs up the user's claims that George was born in 2022. Notably, the episode 'Test Pilot', which aired in Dec, 1962, featured George Jetson attending a physical where his doctor announced he 'should live to be 150,' to which Jetson responds, "I've got 110 good years ahead of me!" This would mean that the man was forty years old at the time of his physical.

Clearly, the realization that the Jetson's patriarch doesn't live thousands of years in the future, and could instead be a member of Generation Alpha, was quite the wake-up call to fans. The tweet drew attention from people from all backgrounds, and while some were attempting to find the real-life version of Montague Jetson (George Jetson's grandfather), others claimed the news was leaving them spiraling into a midlife crisis. In one parting highlighted tweet, Drag Queen Brandon Hilton weighed in on the discovery, asking: "Where's my flying car!?"

Whether fans are ready to accept the newly discovered knowledge it appears that George Jetson and his wife Jane, along with their children Elroy and Judy, are from a future that is no longer quite so far away.
