Official Press Release

JIM HANLEY'S UNIVERSE, New York's premier comic book retailer, is proud to welcome Eisner Award winning writer, GEOFF JOHNS, to their Manhattan location on Wednesday, April 1. Mr. Johns will be signing his latest comic, THE FLASH: REBIRTH at the Manhattan location from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, with a special question and answer discussion taking place from 5:00 to 6:00 PM.

Geoff Johns is primarily known for his work with DC Comics, having penned many of the company's more successful features, including JSA, Teen Titans, and Action Comics. He has also worked in television and film, and just this year, he wrote a Legion of Superheroes-centric episode of Smallville.

THE FLASH: REBIRTH is a five-issue limited series that follows the events that took place in DC's blockbuster company crossover, FINAL CRISIS, wherein Barry Allen, the Silver Age Flash, returned from the dead. With art by Ethan Van Sciver, a frequent collaborator, Johns plans to bring the same bombastic storytelling he brought to the popular SINESTRO CORPS WAR and GREEN LANTERN: REBIRTH storylines.

Prior to signing THE FLASH: REBIRTH, Mr. Johns will take part in a special Q&A session, moderated by iFanboy.com's Josh Flanagan in the new Jim Hanley's Universe Underground. "The Underground is a spot we've earmarked for special events, such as our new Friday Night Magic the Gathering tournaments, and for the Geoff Johns event," said store manager and events coordinator, Vito Delsante. "The idea we had was to give 50 lucky attendees the same feeling they would get going to a major convention and seeing Geoff at a panel."

The event begins at 5:00 PM, but management recommends attendees get to the store as early as possible to be a part of the special event. "Space is limited," Delsante said, "and we want to make sure we're ready to go the second Geoff walks in." Details on the Q&A can be found on the store's website.
