The title for the live-action Beauty and the Beast prequel series on Disney+ may have been revealed.

Alan Menken, known for his work as a composer for various Disney favorites, spoke with Variety about his upcoming projects with Disney and other studios. "I'm excited about the projects I'm doing," Menken said, "I'm working on Disenchanted and a new Beauty and the Beast prequel, 'The Little Town.'"

Though Menken did not specify that the Beauty and the Beast prequel will focus on Gaston, there has not been news of any other prequel being planned. Back in March 2020, it was revealed that a series centered on Gaston was in development for Disney+, with Luke Evans and Josh Gad reprising their respective roles as Gaston and LeFou from the 2017 live-action film. Evans has previously confirmed that several episodes have been written and that they have heard music from Alan Menken, suggesting that The Little Town is in fact the same series.

Alan Menken is an award-winning composer and songwriter, one of a few EGOTs (winners of Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards). He has won a Daytime Emmy for the song "Waiting in the Wings" from Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure. He has won Oscars and Grammys for his work on The Little MermaidBeauty and the Beast, Aladdin and Pocahontas, and a Tony for his score on Newsies. Menken is one of 16 people to be part of the EGOT club.
