Disney has released a clip from the upcoming live-action film “Beauty and the Beast,” featuring an updated version of the iconic song “Gaston.”
The full clip is an extended version of the musical sequence teased earlier this month. It shows Josh Gad as LeFou leading a group of tavern patrons into a song celebrating the infamous hunter Gaston played by Luke Evans. Those familiar with the tune may notice a few changes with the lyrics. Disney added a “few new lines,” alternate lines Howard Ashman wrote for the original film with Alan Menken, Evans told Entertainment Weekly.
In addition to this new clip, a new trailer was released during the Academy Awards on Sunday. It shows brief snippets of footage including Lumiere (Ewan McGregor) asking Belle (Emma Watson) to be their guest in a world of enchantment.
The film is directed by Bill Condon and stars Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as the Beast, Luke Evans as Gaston, Kevin Kline as Mauricer, Josh Gad as Lefou, Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, Stanley Tucci as Maestro Cadenza, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette, Audra McDonald as Madame Garderobe, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, and Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts.
“Beauty and the Beast” debuts in theaters March 17, 2017.
