First appearing in the DC Extended Universe at the end of 2017's Justice League, Slade Wilson/Deathstroke was meant to have a solo film directed by The Raid's Gareth Evans. Now, we have some details about the potential film.

"I was actually quite enthused and excited about [Deathstroke] back in the day, when it was first pitched to me," Evans said in an interview with Yahoo! "I met with them, and talked to them about it, and was certainly attached to it at a certain point."

He went on to speak in further detail about the film's plot, saying, "The plan was, I wanted to tell something that would be a lean story, that would be kind of an origin of that character. Something that felt like it could be 100 minutes or 110 minutes long, max... not to go over the two hour period with it."

In Justice League, Deathstroke was portrayed by Magic Mike's Joe Manganiello, who was attached to reprise his role in the solo film. Manganiello's Deathstroke was also stated to be a villain in Ben Affleck's Batman solo film before Affleck stepped down as the character. The Batman will now focus on a younger version of the character, played by Robert Pattinson, with Matt Reeves directing.
