At the red carpet premiere of Tolkien -- the biopic based on Lord of the Rings author J.R.R. Tolkien's life -- Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin revealed who he thinks would win in a fight between two of the most iconic wizards in the world: Gandalf and Harry Potter's Dumbledore.

According to Variety, star Lily Collins -- who plays Tolkien's wife Edith Bratt in the film -- revealed her favorite book series as Harry Potter. Martin replied, "Gandalf could kick Dumbledore’s ass.”

Dumbledore is one of the most powerful wizards in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series and Headmaster at Hogwarts. The character has been played by Richard Harris, Michael Gambon, Jude Law and Toby Regbo. Gandalf appears in both Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy and Hobbit. Starting out as Gandalf the Grey, he eventually takes up the mantle of Gandalf the White. He's played in the films by Sir Ian McKellen.

Martin also addressed Tolkien's influence on his own work, saying, "He made me love the form he created — epic fantasy. He redefined fantasy of everything that had been before.” Martin went on to praise the biopic, calling it "profoundly moving."
