GameStop doesn't have sufficient cleaning supplies for the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, according to a new report.

The video game retailer is said to be "less than prepared" for the pandemic, with internal documents obtained by Kotaku showing cleaning supplies and hand sanitizer on backorder -- and no set plan for action.

"Thus far I've seen little to no measures taken from corporate, and I've certainly haven't seen any supplies to prevent further outbreak,” explained a GameStop supervisor, who spoke anonymously. "My colleagues and I are sharing a small bottle of hand sanitizer that was purchased through our own pockets as well as making as much usage out of a depleting bottle of All Purpose Cleaner."

According to the report, the stores currently have no plan to handle the COVID-19 crisis. "We were only just given permission to turn off console demos yesterday and my cleaning supplies have been back ordered for two months," the supervisor added. "As far as more immediate measures go, the stores in my area have received nothing."

While the chain has been struggling financially in recent years, GameStop is still one of the world's largest video game and entertainment retailers. The franchise has been trying to reinvent itself by turning some locations into gaming cafes.

Countless stores and businesses have shut down or conducted deep-cleanings to ensure customer safety. GameStop released a statement Tuesday, saying it was "working diligently during this unprecedented time to provide our customers and associates with the safest environment possible."
