In today's day in age, the demand for multiplayer games has reached an all-time high. With the advancement of technology such as the internet and social media, gamers can connect anytime anywhere, and play with their friends. And it's because of that advancement, that made multiplayer games become so massively popular, it's almost expected for a game to come out and have the multiplayer function.

But that's not always the case, as fans and gamers know multiplayer isn't always available. There are classic titles that are insanely popular with gamers and are critically acclaimed, but the developers refuse to put in a multiplayer feature. Maybe multiplayer isn't possible for some titles that are highly regarded, or maybe developers don't want to fix something that isn't broken. But fans and gamers alike can hope and pray their favorite titles will have a multiplayer feature one day.

10 God Of War Would Have Suited Teaming Up With A Friend

God of War Kratos

Multiplayer in God of War could have definitely worked even in the older games of the series. With the vast and rich story of Kratos, it's baffling why there wasn't a multiplayer mode, to begin with. In the Greek Mythology realm of God of War, there could have been a player versus player opportunity, or even a Co-op mode.

In the Norse Mythology realm of God of War, the developers of the game could have implemented a Co-Op mode, as well. Especially with the addition of Krato's son Atreus, who has a very significant part in the game, and the storyline itself. Oftentimes in the game, the player will find themselves needing Atreus to beat the game. Atreus could have simply been played by a friend, and it would have made the game better.

9 Resident Evil 2 Is Begging For Co-Op Gameplay

Leon and Clair, Resident Evil 2

Resident Evil 2, could have been a phenomenal multiplayer game, but for whatever reason, it never got that function. There may have been a technological reason in 1998. But not having multiplayer in the remake version that came out in 2019, was a little disappointing.

What makes matters inexcusable for Capcom to exclude multiplayer from Resident Evil 2, is that the game has two playable characters to choose from. Leon and Clair, the game did a great job at giving the fans of the franchise two characters with different stories, but Capcom failed to give fans a Co-Op mode to share the horror.

8 Cyberpunk 2077 Was Meant To Have A Multiplayer Mode

Cyberpunk-2077-5

The chaos Cyberpunk 2077 produces during the single-player mode, is significant. The game has almost everything you can think of and is a true masterpiece. But one thing it's missing is multiplayer.

Developers were supposed to implement multiplayer mode at the launch of the game. However, the multiplayer feature never happened for Cyberpunk 2077, and it doesn't appear it will happen anytime soon. There are talks that the developers will have it as an added feature, but that remains to be seen. For now, gamers get to enjoy the single-player life, but maybe it's for the best, the game is a lot to handle as is.

7 The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Has Plenty Of Characters For Extra Players

Witcher 3 – Yennefer, Geralt, Triss

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, is an open-world single-player RPG that came out in 2015, and to this day it is still revered as a favorite among gamers. The gameplay, character development, open world, and storyline made the game the reasons why it was critically acclaimed.

A feature that is missing within The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the multiplayer function that gamers could have enjoyed, but unfortunately it simply does not exist. Maybe multiplayer would have been impossible for a game that is basically perfect in every way, but with all of the characters that the game has, it poses the question of why multiplayer wasn't implemented.

6 Dark Souls 3 Multiplayer Would Have Been Even More Challenging

Dark Souls 3

Dark Souls 3 would be an interesting game to have multiplayer added, as this is one of the games that is considered to be extremely difficult by the gaming community.  Gamers who play the game simply do so for the challenge, from the very beginning the game shows no mercy, and that's why gamers love it.

It would be curious to know how multiplayer would work for Dark Souls 3. The game is so painfully unforgiving and tough that it does drive gamers away. However, it's because of the unforgiving nature that draws gamers in. It takes a very specific type of player to love and enjoy Dark Souls 3. But with multiplayer added, it would enhance the game inviting gamers who need a friend to beat the game.

5 Spider-Man Would Have Had Thrilling Multiplayer

The PS4 Spider-Man game, the best in the franchise so far

Spider-Man came out in 2018 and it blew the gaming community away by how good the game was. Spider-Man is an action-adventure video game that lets gamers play Spider-Man in an open world. Players can climb up the highest buildings, fight iconic bosses, and play a storyline that could have been enjoyed in a multiplayer setting.

Multiplayer would have been perfect for Spider-Man, but unfortunately, the developers didn't add the feature within the game. It could have been a plethora of reasons why it never came to fruition. It could have been a licensing issue, it could have been technical, or it could have just simply been the developer's preference. Regardless it would have been awesome.

4 Hades's Gameplay Suits Co-Op

Hades Thanatos Zagreus Megara

Hades would have been the perfect game for a multiplayer feature. Gamers, unfortunately, have only one character to choose from, and that is the son of Hades Zagreus. Zagreus's sole mission in the game is to break out the depths of Hades, he finds it much more difficult than originally anticipated but does so with the help of the gods.

The reason Hades would be perfect for multiplayer is because of the gameplay and the different characters this game has to offer. There are numerous characters that this game has, and any one of them would have been a perfect fit for a co-op mode. The game is a violent roguelike adventure, where the player has to complete stages to advance. Again, the game would have been perfect for a co-op mode. But unfortunately, players will have to break out of hades themselves in this hack and slash.

3 Final Fantasy VII Remake Had The Chance To Update

The Final Fantasy Squad

Final Fantasy VII Remake was a very ambitious attempt to bring the game to the modern era. It was risky of Square Enix to remake something that not only had a large number of fans but also was also considered a classic in its own right.

But with great risk comes with great reward, Square Enix pulled of the remake and made the game better without compromising any of its qualities. But, Square Enix wasn't ambitious enough, as they had an opportunity to do something they didn't do back in 1997, and that's to add multiplayer. With all of the playable characters the game has to offer, it would have been a huge improvement, but it would be one the developers would miss out on.

2 Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Would Have Been Great With Co-Op

Sekiro Steam Sale

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is another game that is very challenging and is often compared to the Dark Souls series in terms of difficulty. In fact, gamers in the community often debate which is more difficult. But, the truth is that they are both challenging in their own right.

However, like Dark Souls, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, does not have a multiplayer feature. As good as the game is, the game could have been better. There could have been a Co-op mode or a player versus player mode where gamers can go against each other.

1 The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Is Like An MMO

Skyrim

Out of all the games on the list, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim not having a multiplayer mode, is the most disappointing. Players have the ability to create their own character, choose from numerous archetypes, and dress their character to be as unique as they want them to be. So there is no reason for a game as massive as Skyrim to not have a multiplayer feature.

But unfortunately, Skyrim will remain a single-player game without any hope for a multiplayer function. Skyrim even came out with an online version in 2014, but again multiplayer doesn't exist. The game has the feel, the look, and the size of an MMO, but fans will have to explore and play Skyrim by themselves.
