PlayStation's newest iteration and entry into the VR hardware landscape, the PlayStation VR 2, launches on February 22, 2023. While there are currently 30 games ready for the day one launch, this upgrade to the original PlayStation VR offers gamers a lot more technology. The PSVR 2 is an upgrade in every way, from the screen inside the headset to the controllers.

These upgrades to the tech will allow developers more freedom when designing their games, giving them more room to play both performance-wise and graphically. The higher power of the PSVR 2 brings the console VR experience up to the same level as PC VR headsets, so console players could see more ports of already fantastic PC VR games.

10 More Music, More Beats, More Beat Saber

Beat Saber captured the attention of gamers when it launched on PC and then later on the PSVR, giving players a fantastic, energetic workout while they chopped and sliced away at blocks to epic scores of music. Since its launch, there have been several music packs added to the library, but the PSVR 2 offers a new chance for Beat Saber to capture gamers.

The original was one of the best experiences available for VR owners, and any VR library is incomplete without it. A new entry could add new songs, obviously, but even some new modes or even an online party mode, so players can bop to some beats together.

9 Sabers Or Ships Would Make A Great Star Wars Game

Star Wars Squadrons and Fallen Order

Star Wars Squadrons launched in 2020 and not only gave players a fantastic space flight sim, but a great Star Wars experience normally, and in VR. Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order was also released to critical acclaim, giving fans a Souls-like game that will see a sequel released in 2023.

With the PSVR 2 coming out, there's plenty of opportunity for either of these franchises or a brand-new game to take shape in the VR world and give players a new, exciting Star Wars experience. Vader Immortal did find some success, but the higher specs that the PSVR 2 boasts would give developers a lot more space to play with for a much more immersive experience for fans.

8 Call Of Duty Could Offer An Impressive FPS Experience

The PSVR 2 may finally be the hardware for Call of Duty to make its debut. There was an experience in the past, for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, but that was a flying game set in space, rather than a boots-on-the-ground FPS game. The tech in the PSVR 2 would allow a proper Call of Duty experience, and games like Firewall: Zero Hour have shown that online FPS games can do well.

The new controllers with the PSVR 2 allow for a more free-flowing, realistic shooting experience. While separate servers might be needed so only VR players play against other VR players, a single-player campaign would freshen up the Call of Duty experience for newer and long-time fans.

7 Deliver Everything In A VR Death Stranding

Hideo Kojima is often at the forefront of brand-new gaming experiences, offering different takes on existing genres, or creating all new ones, as he did with Death Stranding. With Death Stranding 2 recently announced, there is definitely an opening for Kojima to expand his gaming direction into the VR space.

It's almost a shock he hasn't already. With the interesting gameplay mechanics he institutes in his games already, fans would be champing at the bit to see what he would have in store in a VR world. A VR version of Death Stranding 2 would offer players a new way to experience the combat or traversal mechanics, adding new depth and dimension to the "delivery man simulator."

6 An Astro Bot Rescue Mission Sequel Would Save The Day

Astro Bot Rescue Mission-1

One of the best games on the original PlayStation VR was the platformer Astro Bot Rescue Mission. The little robot adventured through levels in numerous vibrant, action-filled locations with exciting combat, charming characters, and fun puzzles. Astro Bot saw another game release — a free game included with the PS5 — that fans also loved.

The PSVR 2 is another great chance for the little bot to show what he's made of with more puzzles, platforming, and combat. The original already looked great and performed well, and with the new specs of the PSVR 2, Astro Bot could outdo himself, especially if they included online co-op.

5 Half-Life Alyx Is One Of The Best VR Experiences Ever

Half Life Alyx-1

Half-Life Alyx saw Valve return to the beloved franchise with a brand-new game, and one of the best VR games, not only on PC, but ever. Stunning graphics, intuitive gameplay, creative, exciting story, and a fun, engaging experience left PC VR players wanting more, and console VR players wanting a taste.

Half-Life Alyx could run on the PSVR 2 and Half-Life already jumped onto consoles years ago with Half-Life 2 itself, so it might be time for the series to make another appearance to console gamers. It really is one of the best games of the VR generation, so far, and could easily be a game that pulls console players into the VR world, just to get a taste of the possibilities.

4 Grand Theft Auto 6 Would Offer The Pinnacle In Crime Immersion

Rockstar Games is busy at work on Grand Theft Auto 6 and while players can't wait to dive into the new city, characters, and story that the game will offer, there is a great opportunity for the game to give players a new GTA experience, all in VR. When PlayStation VR came out, players were already asking for a port or some form of GTA V to appear on it.

The technology was most likely not capable of supporting such a performance-heavy game, but the PS5 and PSVR 2 would be more than capable. Players could take part in all the illicit activities of the franchise in a much more immersive way, getting their own hands virtually dirty with the crimes and actions of the game's characters.

3 Fight Off Mongol Hordes In Ghost of Tsushima

Ghost of Tsushima took players on an incredible journey through Feudal Japan, placing them in control of Jin Sakai, a lone samurai who takes on an invading Mongol army. The crisp sword gameplay, stealth mechanics, stunning visuals, and emotional story captured players' hearts and minds, giving them one of the best experiences at the end of the PS4 lifecycle, and beginning of the PS5's.

A VR version could put players into Jin's armor and let them wield his katana in brutal fury against enemies. And, when the battle is over, a relaxing dip in a hot spring would do nicely, perhaps even letting players pen a haiku with their own hand.

2 Explore the World of Teyvat In Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact Inazuma Enemies

Genshin Impact is one of the biggest games out there, with widespread popularity both within the realm of video games and outside it with tons of merchandise. It is an open-world, free-to-play game with gacha mechanics that allow players to unlock more characters and weapons.

The bright, anime-style visuals of the game are gorgeous to look at and players who have fallen in love with the game dream of living in that magical world. A VR version or even a shorter experience of Genshin Impact could get players even more attached to characters, locations, and the gameplay itself.

1 Gamers Want To Yell "Boy" At Atreus

While it was quickly a meme, yelling "BOY" at Kratos' son Atreus could become a reality for gamers in a God of War experience. The latest entry in the franchise pitted Kratos and Atreus against Norse Gods and gave a fantastic story with stellar action gameplay.

In a VR version, players could slash away at enemies with Blades of Chaos, the Leviathan Axe, or other weapons, all while shouting "BOY" at Atreus to great comedic effect. The levels are highly detailed, and the enemies would prove to be challenging gameplay, giving players an epic experience — especially if it came with a fake beard for players to wear while playing.
