WARNING: The following contains spoilers for "The Rightful Queen," the second episode of Game of Thrones Season 8, now streaming.

As many of the characters on HBO's Game of Thrones prepared for their inevitable battle against the White Walkers and their Army of the Dead, one of the more surprisingly touching moments saw Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) have sex with the blacksmith Gendry the night of the upcoming showdown.

Williams is aware of viewers who were uncomfortable with the scene, having watched her and the character Arya grow up since the first season, and reminded fans how uncomfortable it was to think about her entire family watching the intimate encounter.

Upon first learning of the scene, Williams was told by the series creators that she could reveal as much of herself on-screen as she personally felt comfortable with, opting for partial nudity in the episode.

As a character who had grown up as a hardened, trained killer over the previous seven seasons, it was a surprisingly tender and vulnerable moment for Arya as the defenders of Winterfell faced a massive battle of insurmountable odds of victory.
