After eight seasons, Game of Thrones finally came to an end earlier this month on HBO. The final season was filled with shocking twists and turns, including the death of Daenerys Targaryen at the hands of her nephew and former lover, Jon Snow, who drove a knife into her heart. The surprise betrayal caught many viewers off-guard, though one of the most emotional reactions to the murder came from actor Kit Harington.
Narrated by showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss, the Game of Thrones documentary The Last Watch chronicled the production of the final season, showing Harington learning of Daenerys' death during a cast table read of the series finale.
Harington teared up in shock after discovering what Jon Snow did, while an understanding Emilia Clarke nodded at her longtime co-star and looked surprised herself. For their part, the entire cast applauded the twist as well.
Jon killed Daenerys after witnessing her dragon Drogon raze the city of King's Landing. Fearing the rise of another Mad Queen, Jon stabbed Daenerys in the heart while the two were alone in the remains of the Red Keep. As much as Daenerys' death was a surprise to audiences around the world, no one appeared more emotional to the act than Jon Snow himself.
Game of Thrones stars Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Jaime Lannister, Lena Headey as Cersei Lannister, Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen, Sophie Turner as Sansa Stark, Maisie Williams as Arya Stark and Kit Harington as Jon Snow.
