Winter is finally coming, as HBO has confirmed the final season of Game of Thrones will debut in the first half of 2019.

Although Season 8 of the fantasy epic will consist of only six episodes, fans now know how long it will be before showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss take the network back to the Seven Kingdoms.

Although there was already confirmation that Game of Thrones will come to an end in 2019, Entertainment Weekly reports the season premiere will air in the "first half" of next year. HBO Programming President Casey Bloys confirmed the news while speaking to the press at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour in Beverly Hills.

While there's no exact date just yet, previous seasons debuted in either March or April, which seems like a pretty good guess for when the war between the living and the dead will finally come to a head.

Despite Game of Thrones missing out on Comic-Con International, the news that the final season is edging closer is sure to get everyone talking.

Game of Thrones may have already filmed its final scenes, but with a strict "no spoilers" policy from the set, fans still have no idea who will sit on the Iron Throne when the credits roll.

Stars like Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington and Peter Dinklage have all teased a supersized swansong, but everyone will have to wait just a little bit longer to see how it all goes down on the wintry plains of Westeros.
