Mr. Eko is headed to Game of Thrones -- and possibly taking another page out of Lost's playbook -- so are flashbacks.

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who played the drug smuggling, man-of-faith on Lost, has signed up for a mysterious role on the upcoming fifth season of HBO's Game Of Thrones. The actor will be playing "Malko," according to The Hollywood Reporter. The character that has not yet appeared in the show's source material, George R. R. Martin's A Song of Fire and Ice series.

Akinnuoye-Agbaje's Mr. Eko was a fan-favorite character on Lost, before the actor asked to be written out of the series in the third season. Since his run-in with the Smoke Monster, the actor has appeared in Thor: The Dark World, G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra and Pompeii, alongside GoT star Kit Harington.

Bringing the actor who played Mr. Eko to Westeros isn't the only thing Game of Thrones will have in common with Lost. Earlier this week, showrunners David Beniof and D.B. Weiss talked with film students in Spain, where they revealed that flashbacks would be part of Season 5's story structure.

“By making the first season, we set a rule: No prophecies, dreams or flashbacks. We failed the first two and this season the third. So yes, this season will finally have flashbacks.” According to EW, the quote is a roughly translated from a Spanish website and not attributed to either producer.

But the confirmation of flashbacks in GoT may reveal how another character may return to the show, when an actor hinted at his return last month.

Game of Thrones fifth season is currently in production and will air next year.
