As Game of Thrones slowly heads toward its final season, star Maisie Williams has weighed in on a popular fan theory about Cersei Lannister and the Night King.

With the Seven Kingdoms on the brink of all-out war between the North and the South, Season 8 will finally see the White Walkers join the fight. Cersei and the Night King are both poised to be central threats, but could the two join in an unholy alliance?

Speaking to Nick Grimshaw on the Radio 1 Breakfast Show, Williams, who plays Arya Stark, was coy about fan theories centering on the final episodes. Asked whether she thought Cersei would side with the Night King, the actress said, "Oh, I have seen those pictures. What a power couple."

For those who don't know, one of the more out-there theories is that Cersei could even fall victim to the Night King and become Night Queen. A quick search on the internet reveals plenty of fan art, while Daenerys' frightening vision of a snow-covered throne room hints at Cersei's snowy demise. All of that fits with a recent fan theory that the Night King and a reanimated Viserion will head for King's Landing in Season 8.

Other popular theories are that Bran Stark is the Night King or that Arya could be the one who kills Cersei, using the face of the recently deceased Petyr Baelish.

Whether Cersei becomes the undead bride of the Night King or goes it alone to try and end her enemies — including brothers Tyrion and Jaime — the prophecy of Maggy the Frog teases that she might be one of those who doesn't survive the show's swansong.

HBO has a zero-tolerance stance on Game of Thrones spoilers, meaning that even the cast didn't get full scripts for Season 8. Whether Williams doesn't know or whether she is obligated to keep quiet on what would be one of the show's biggest bombshells, no one is any closer to knowing the truth.

Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have just six episodes in 2019 to bring their story of Westeros to a close. There are plenty of fan theories circling out there, and while Game of Thrones can't confirm or deny all of them, the show is sure to have a definitive ending when it comes to HBO next year. Will Cersei really become the Night Queen? Fans will just have to wait and see.
