Gambit: Channing Tatum’s X-Men Film Has A Massive Budget

The long-delayed Gambit film could be operating with a massive budget when production finally gets underway in 2018.

Delayed since 2015, the movie is now set to begin principal photography in Louisiana in March. According to the Times-Picayune, the original budget details show the film operating on a $155 million budget. It should be noted, though, that this budget information could have changed in the two years since initial filing.

A $155 million budget would put the film right in the middle of Fox’s other X-Men films. Gambit would be well over Deadpool‘s $58 million budget and Logan‘s 97 million. It would put Gambit more in line with X-Men Origins: Wolverine‘s $150 million budget and the $178 million that went into X-Men Apocalypse.

This now marks Fox’s third attempt to get a Gambit solo film off the ground after multiple production delays caused several directors to leave the project. The movie will enter production shooting under the working title of “Forevermore.”

Directed by Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean), Gambit is expected to be released on Feb. 14, 2019. The film will star Channing Tatum as Remy LeBeau and Lizzy Caplan, who is expected to play the female lead Bella Donna Boudreaux.
