In We Can Be Heroes, YaYa Gosselin plays a plucky tween who represents the next generation of superheroes. Still, she gets inspiration from today's female superpowered stars, Supergirl and Wonder Woman.

Gosselin told CBR, "My first favorite was Supergirl. I love that show, and Melissa Benoist is just incredible in it. But I have to say the movie Wonder Woman with Gal Gadot truly changed my life. I had never felt empowered as I did after walking out of the theater from seeing that. I saw it twice in the theater and I saw myself differently after watching her on-screen. She is so strong and fierce, but she is also sensitive and compassionate. I had a poster of her in my hotel room the entire time we were filming We Can Be Heroes. She has no idea how much she inspires me."

Gosselin plays Missy Moreno in We Can Be Heroes, a sequel to 2005's The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D. Missy is one of several kids with superpowers on a mission to rescue her dad, played by Pedro Pascal.

Pascal also co-stars as Max Lord in Wonder Woman 1984 with Gadot and brought Gosselin to Gadot's attention. Gosselin said, "It was pretty awesome, but Pedro filmed a little message of me and him together on set and told her that I was an up-and-coming superhero she needed to look out for. Then he texted it to her right then and there! I FREAKED OUT! It was so nice of him. I will never forget it."

Directed by Robert Rodriguez, We Can Be Heroes stars Priyanka Chopra, Christian Slater, Pedro Pascal, Sung Kang, Boyd Holbrook, Taylor Dooley, YaYa Gosselin, Akira Akbar, Haley Reinhart, Andy Walken, Andrew Diaz, Brently Heilbron, Hala Finley, Isaiah Russell-Bailey, Lotus Blossom, Lyon Daniels, Nathan Blair, Vivien Lyra Blair, Adriana Barraza, Brittany Perry-Russell, Christopher McDonald and Dylan Henry Lau. The film premieres Dec. 25 on Netflix.
