Gail Simone has issued a challenge to her fellow comic book writers to auction off personal pieces of art to benefit Black Lives Matter.

A response to a comic book reader's call for action, the #ComicWritersChallenge was issued during a lengthy Twitter thread from Simone, where she announced plans to auction off an original piece of artwork from George Perez, who asked her to write the very last Wonder Woman story he illustrated.

In addition to the artwork, Simone is also auctioning off a signed script featuring Wonder Woman meeting Star Blossom, along with a package that includes a signed and personalized Wonder Woman omnibus. Interested parties can bid on the items using the hashtag #WonderWomanLot.

In closing, Simone urged her fellow writers to help out by making a similar auction. "You writers out there, my friends... I know it's an uncertain time. But I know almost all of you have an art collection, things gifted or purchased. I challenge you...take a piece that has special meaning to you and auction it off, right now, for #BLM." she wrote. "We have black retailers and readers and they're hurting. We have black creators and editors who were not always treated fairly. We can do this. Take the #ComicsWriterChallenge and trade something you love for something we need." She then tagged fellow DC writers Tom Taylor and Tom King to start the initiative.

Simone was later contacted by Perez, who offered to buy his art from her. He then said that he would add a sketch of Diana and the Amazon Philipus to the package. Colleen Doran, who illustrated the Star Blossom stories, will also offer a sketch for the package.
