wonder woman star gal gadot is living up to her superheroic status as she recently presented a deserving young woman with the very first wonder woman scholarship, named for the dc comics character and superheroine who gadot portrayed in her first live-action solo film.
as reported by the huffington post uk, gadot presented the scholarship at the hollywood reporter's 2017 women in entertainment breakfast. the scholarship was donated by warner bros and provides payment for a full four years at loyola marymount university in los angeles. carla, a new loyola student, was the proud recipient of the scholarship.
"i had the privilege of portraying a superhero onscreen, but the young women here are today are the real superheroes," gadot said. "they've overcome so many challenges in their lives, and they're driven to do more. they're the true leaders of tomorrow."
of carla, gadot said that the funding will help the young writer achieve her dreams of becoming a scribe for the screen.
"she's strong-minded, opinionated and gutsy," gadot added, "...[s]he's already impressed everyone who knows her--her fellow mentees, her professors and everyone in this room who's met her. she won't be able to continue at lmu without this funding."
gadot can be seen in justice league, which is now playing in theaters.
