The Joe squad is ready to Rock.

With a third G.I. Joe

for 2016, Variety reports Paramount Pictures has hired a writer to bring the Joes back to life: Jonathan Lemkin, who frequently collaborates with G.I. Joe producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura. The two previously worked together on Shooter and Lethal Weapon 4.

Plot details for G.I. Joe 3 are scarce, except that it will once again focus on Roadblock, the gun-toting hero played by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Adrianne Palicki is also set to return as Lady Jaye.

At the moment, G.I. Joe 3 is without a director and without an official release date, beyond the stated goal of 2016.
