G.I. Joe #2 Ships Early, Sells Out

Official Press Release

ORANGE, CA -- Despite over-printing G.I. Joe #2 by a considerable amount, Image Comics has announced that Diamond has completely sold out of the issue.

Originally scheduled for a November release, Image shipped G.I. Joe in October to capitalize on the success of G.I. Joe #1, which sold out in September and immediately went back to press despite an overprint of one third. Instead of issuing a second printing of G.I. Joe #2, Image is directing retailers and fans to the upcoming G.I. Joe: M.I.A. (NOV011508), a double-sized one-shot collecting G.I. Joe issues #1 and #2 in their entirety with no ads. G.I. Joe: M.I.A. is scheduled to ship the week of February 6, 2002 and will provide everyone who missed the first two issues a chance to catch up with one of the biggest hits of 2001.

Image is also strongly urging retailers to re-check their orders for issue #3 (NOV011509) as there is still time to place advanced re-orders for that issue, which is currently scheduled to ship on January 4, 2002.
