FX's Y: The Last Man has cast Elliot Fletcher in the recurring role of Sam Jordan. The highly anticipated series is based on DC's Vertigo series by Brian K. Vaughn and Pia Guerra.

According to Deadline, the transgender actor will join a cast that includes Diane Lane, Imogen Poots, Amber Tamblyn, Marin Ireland, Lashana Lynch and Juliana Canfield. Fletcher may be best known from his multi-season recurring roles as Aaron Baker on Freeform's The Fosters, and as Ian Gallagher's love interest Trevor on Showtime's Shameless. Fletcher has become an iconic figure for trans-masculine actors in Hollywood and was recently featured in both Time Magazine and T: The New York Times Style Magazine.

Sam Jordan is the best friend of the series' hero, Yorick Brown. Jordan comes from a poverty-stricken background that's left him resourceful and street-smart. In a post-apocalyptic world where men are looked at as untrustworthy at best, Sam is humorous, compassionate and occasionally self-destructive.

The comic book series Y: The Last Man ran from 2002 - 2008. The series follows Yorick Brown and his pet monkey Ampersand as the only males left alive following an apparent worldwide systematic slaying of men, boys or essentially anyone with a Y chromosome. FX ordered Y: The Last Man to series in February of 2019.

The FX series will be produced by Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson's Color Force (Pose, American Crime Story). Melinda Matsoukas (Queen & Slim) is set to direct the pilot.
