FX Sets Jan. 30 Premiere For Spy Drama The Americans

FX has announced its Cold War drama The Americans will debut Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, the time slot now occupied by the hit American Horror Story: Asylum.

Created by Joe Weisberg (Falling Skies), a former CIA agent turned television writer (Falling Skies), The Americans centers on the complex relationship between two KGB spies posing as an average family in suburban Washington, D.C., shortly after the election of Ronald Reagan. The arranged marriage of Phillip (Matthew Rhys) and Elizabeth Jennings (Keri Russell), who have two children unaware of their parents’ true identities, grows more genuine even as it’s tested by the escalation of the Cold War, Phillip’s growing affinity for the American way of life, and the arrival of a new neighbor (Noah Emmerich), an FBI agent working in counter-intelligence.

Justified creator Graham Yost is an executive producer; Weisberg will serve as showrunner.
