"The Strain" will continue to affect airwaves for another season. Deadline reports that FX has renewed the series for a third season, four episodes into its second season. The outlet notes that ratings have been down in season two, but the show remains strong in the coveted 18-49 demographic, along with showing healthy DVR gains.

"The Strain" stars Corey Stoll as Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, one of a group of humans struggling to combat a vampire epidemic. The show is executive produced by "Lost" alum Carlton Cuse, and is based on a book trilogy by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan. "The Strain" has also inspired multiple comic book adaptations, published by Dark Horse Comics.

Whether or not season three of "The Strain" will have a similarly disturbing promotional campaign as the first two go-arounds remains to be seen. "The Strain" airs 10 p.m. on FX.
