As far as FX is concerned, The Americans is performing its secret mission quite well. The network is so impressed with the Cold War drama that it has ordered a 13-episode second season.

Premiering Jan. 30, the series stars Kerri Russell and John Rhys as Soviet agents posing as a normal American couple living in suburban Washington, D.C., in the early 1980s. The pilot earned FX a 5.11 million viewers, which marked the network's highest numbers for a premiere. To get viewers caught up on what's going on in the first season, FX will air a marathon of existing episodes on March 1.

The Americans has quickly established itself as a key part of FX’s acclaimed drama lineup,” FX President John Landgraf said in a statement. “Executive producers Joe Weisberg, Joel Fields and Graham Yost and their collaborators are telling riveting and deeply emotional stories, and the performances of Keri Russell, Matthew Rhys, Noah Emmerich and the entire cast are simply outstanding. The show is truly worthy of its widespread critical acclaim, and we are confident that its quality will continue to yield a robust and passionate audience.”

The Americans airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX
