Y: The Last Man is an adaptation of the comic series from Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra that ran from 2002-2008. The series takes place in a world where a cataclysmic event has killed every male mammal on the planet except for a human, Yorick Brown, and his faithful companion capuchin monkey Ampersand. As Yorick undergoes a dangerous odyssey to find out why he's the lone survivor, the remaining women of Earth try to figure out how to rebuild society following the death of half its population.

Y: The Last Man has been in development as a television series since 2015. However, a pilot for the series wasn't ordered until April 2018, and the project picked up steam in the next year with a straight-to-series order.

Based on DC's Vertigo series by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra, Y: The Last Man stars Diane Lane, Ben Schnetzer, Ashley Romans, Diana Bang, Olivia Thirlby, Juliana Canfield, Marin Ireland, Amber Tamblyn, Paul Gross and Elliot Fletcher. The series premieres Monday, Sept. 13 on FX on Hulu.
