FX Buys Detective Drama From Crime Novelist Charlie Huston

FX has picked up a pitch from crime novelist Charlie Huston and The Walking Dead producer Circle of Confusion, Deadline reports. Michael Dinner (Justified, Powers) is attached to direct the potential pilot.

Called Furlough, the project is a private detective/prison drama reteams FX, Sony TV, Circle of Confusion and Dinner, who collaborated on the pilot for Powers, based on the long-running comic series by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming. The cable network is eyeing that adaptation an early 2012 premiere.

Huston, who’s best known for novels like Caught Stealing, Already Dead and The Shotgun Rule, rebooted Marvel’s Moon Knight in 2006. His 2009 crime novel The Mystic Arts of Erasing All Signs of Death was picked up to pilot last year by HBO, with True Blood's Alan Ball directing and executive producing. However, the cable network ended up passing on the series.
