WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Future State: Immortal Wonder Woman #1, by Becky Cloonan, Michael W. Conrad, L.L. McKinney, Jen Bartel, Alitha E. Martinez, Mark Morales, Emilio Lopez, Pat Brosseau and Becca Carey, and content on sale now.

As more details about DC's upcoming Infinite Frontier era surface, it's becoming increasingly clear that many of the ripples effects from Future State and its alternate timelines are here to stay. Among the most visible changes to the DC Universe informed directly by Future State are three vastly different incarnations of Wonder Woman active in the DCU. This was hinted at by the variant cover for this March's Wonder Woman #770, the first issue of the iconic series as it enters the Infinite Frontier era. Illustrated by Travis Moore, the cover shows all three Wonder Women together on Themyscira with the rest of the series' extensive cast of allies and enemies.

Now, we're taking a closer look at DC's three primary Wonder Women and how Future State may set up their roles in Infinite Frontier and the rest of 2021.

Diana Prince

Of course, the classic Wonder Woman Diana Prince has a role to play in both Future State and Infinite Frontier, but upheaval appears to be on the horizon for the Themysciran champion's status quo. A variant cover illustrated by John Timms for March's Infinite Frontier #0 shows Diana in an all-white costume wielding a strange, emerald energy. Solicits reveal that Diana awakens in the Norse afterlife of Valhalla at the start of Infinite Frontier, suggesting the Amazon hero may be dead.

A vision of Diana even further in one of Future State's alternate timelines appears in Future State: Immortal Wonder Woman #1. Decades into the future after most of the DCU's biggest heroes have fallen, Darkseid arrives on Earth for one final battle. With Diana staring death in the face, Immortal Wonder Woman could foreshadow the New Gods playing a larger role in her mythos moving forward.

Yara Flor

One of the most buzzed-about superheroes coming out of Future State is Yara Flor, the champion of a secret sect of Amazons located deep within the Brazilian rainforests. Blending both Brazilian folklore with the Ancient Greek mythology often linked to the Wonder Woman mythos, Yara is seen in Future State venturing into Hades to save the soul of a fallen Themysciran sister...potentially Diana herself given the Infinite Frontier change in her status.

What role Yara plays in Infinite Frontier has yet to be seen but her appearance on the Wonder Woman #770 variant cover confirms she will play a major part beyond Future State. And with her own television series in development at The CW, Yara is about to make the leap beyond comic books in the near future as well.

Nubia

Nubia is the Wonder Woman that completes the trio and the character has quite the history in the DCU, created by Robert Kanigher and Don Heck in 1973's Wonder Woman #204. Revealed to be the secret twin sister of Diana created by Hippolyta, Nubia was raised Mars, the Roman God of War. Appearing in Immortal Wonder Woman #1, Nubia reveals that she hasn't been on Themyscira for some time while continuing to defend Amazon interests abroad.

While other iterations of the character have appeared before, including as Themyscira's first champion tasked with guarding the entrance to Hades in the Post-Crisis DCU and as the Wonder Woman of Earth-23, the exact nature of this Nubia's origins are still unknown. Tasked with tracking down artifacts that can open portals to alternate realities, this Nubia may find a relic that transports her to the main DCU to meet Yara and Diana during Infinite Frontier.
