According to Future State: Immortal Wonder Woman co-writer Becky Cloonan, the fast-approaching comic features a reference to one of her previous DC titles, Gotham Academy, courtesy of artist Jen Bartel.

Future State: Immortal Wonder Woman #1 is set to arrive this Tuesday, Jan. 19, followed by the title's second and final issue on Feb. 16. Ahead of the book's launch, Cloonan revealed her favorite moment from Immortal Wonder Woman in an interview with Nerdist. Written by Cloonan and Brendan Fletcher and illustrated by Cloonan alongside Karl Kerschl and Babs Tarr, DC Comics' Gotham Academy debuted in 2014. The original series ran for 18 issues, plus an annual. It was followed up by Gotham Academy: Second Semester, which ran for an additional 12 issues.

Gotham Academy revolves around Olive Silverlock, a student at the eponymous school and daughter of the supervillain Calamity. Olive is joined at the school by the likes of Mia "Maps" Mizoguchi, Pomeline Fritch and Colton Rivera, among others. Interestingly, Maps Mizoguchi actually takes up the mantle of Robin for the aforementioned Kerschl's story for the new Batman Black and White anthology.
