Bofuri in the Bofuri anime

Bofuri: I Don't Want To Get Hurt, So I'll Max Out My Defense immediately implies what the show is about with its title. Kaede Honjo, known as Maple, initially appears to be the polar opposite of overpowered characters such as Kirito from Sword Art Online. However, her focus on defense actually becomes an incredibly overpowered asset, almost by accident.

She ends up being able to defeat aggressive opponents through simple defensive strategies, even allowing herself to be attacked by monsters to build up immunity to certain effects. Bofuri is by no means a typical comedy, but the hilarity that comes with Maple's various actions and choices is undisputed.

Kemono Michi: Rise Up may have received generally negative reviews since its release in 2019, but it does have plenty of funny moments. The idea and concept of a professional wrestler being summoned to a fantasy world is intriguing enough without breaking away from the isekai mold, but Genzo's sense of justice being centered around animals makes it that much funnier.

He doesn't fall for the classic tropes such as saving a damsel in distress. Instead, he's triggered by the slightest utterance about an animal being harmed. He even delivers a German suplex to the princess who summons him instead of helping her. He then opts to pursue his dreams of owning his own pet shop in a hilarious twist.

6 So I'm A Spider, So What? Relies On Kumoko For Much Of Its Humor

Kumoko in So I'm A Spider, So What?

The conventional premise of isekai anime often falls around the protagonist being reincarnated into another world, but retaining their species and race. However, So I'm A Spider, So What? is an example that goes against the grain in this regard. The main character is reincarnated into a perilous world as a name less spider, and is later nicknamed as Kumoko.

A spider being thrust into dangerous situations naturally provides many of the anime's funnier moments through the sheer awkwardness of having to adapt accordingly. Kumoko can also be rather over-the-top with her reactions to these situations, which is another source of humor.

5 Princess Connect! Re:Dive Is Full Of Ridiculous Hilarity

Princess Connect Re:Dive Karyl and Pecora

Princess Connect! Re:Dive is an anime adaptation of the mobile RPG. It does not necessarily have the most positive or forgiving reviews, but its humor still hits the intended mark. The main premise is that Yuki is a player stand-in who's dropped into a fantasy world.

The main girls bring most of the drive and humor to the anime. The running gag where Yuki gets dragged away by wolves is hilarious on its own. Even better, the series maintains this gag across its multiple occurrences. Karyl, Pecorine, and Kokoro are all arguably more memorable than Yuki. They all bring their own character depth and numerous hilarious moments.

4 Cautious Hero Brings A Unique Twist On An Overpowered Protagonist

Seiya protects Ristarte in Cautious Hero.

Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered But Overly Cautious, simply known as Cautious Hero, turns the titular components of the protagonist into its main gimmick. Seiya is certainly capable of being the overpowered protagonist often expected from isekai anime, but his tendency to be too cautious sets up various hilarious situations.

This comes from the reactions of others, whether it be through frustration or sheer exasperation. It may meet many of the conventional tropes of isekai series, but this unique twist makes it both intriguing and funnier than many others.

Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid also deserves its recognition as a good quality and hilarious fantasy comedy reverse isekai. Its bizarre premise focuses on a dragon named Tohru who poses in human form as a maid, which naturally prompts numerous hilariously awkward situations.

Both worlds are referenced with various characters moving between them, flirting with the boundaries of what actually makes an anime an isekai or reverse isekai. The dynamic between Kobayashi and Tohru is fascinating and this slice-of-life anime is wholesome enough before even considering its comedic aspects.

1 KonoSuba Brings Four Despicable Misfits Into Hilarious Situations

The gang flashes a thumbs-up in Konosuba.

KonoSuba: God's Blessing On This Wonderful World is often discussed as not only being one of the funniest isekai anime but also one of the best. It follows the usual premise that isekai anime are often built around: a person with very little direction in life in the real world is reincarnated into a fantasy world. In this case, the protagonist is Kazuma.

Kazuma forms a party consisting of Aqua, Megumin, and Darkness, with chaos ensuing on the regular. On the face of it, all four are terrible people in their own ways due to their flaws and obsessions. However, this chaotic mixture is also the show's success. Hilarity is found in almost every corner in KonoSuba, whether it is subtle humor or outrageous and inappropriate comedy gold.
