Fans of Nickelodeon's popular animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender have great reason to be excited for the new year.
Popular toy and collectible-manufacturing company Funko has just announced a new wave of its fan-favorite Pop! figures based entirely on the animated series.
The line contains a total of eleven figures to collect. Seven of these figures form the core of the wave, which will be available wherever Pops! are sold. Avatar Aang (complete with airbending effect and Momo!), waterbending Katara, boomerang-wielding Sokka, beloved flying bison Appa, earthbending Toph, tea-sipping Iroh and firebending Zuko make up this core line of Pop! figures, while four others will be much harder to find.
A Pop! figure of Aang riding his signature wind sphere will be exclusive to Hot Topic, with a special chase variant that glows in the dark. On top of that, there is also a chase variant of Zuko wielding fire daggers, with a rarity scale of 1/6.
Finally, the line is complete with a GameStop exclusive figure of Zuko's sister, the villainous Azula.
Although the series concluded years ago, the Avatar franchise has proven extremely popular: a sequel series, The Legend of Korra, lasted four seasons, and many comic books that continue the stories that place in the popular world of Avatar are currently being published. Plus, it was recently announced that Netflix was developing a live-action television series based on Avatar: The Last Airbender. While very little is known about the series right now, we should learn a whole lot more about it in the coming year.
The Avatar: The Last Airbender Funko Pop! figures will be availble at your local Pop! retailers this January.
