Funko has given the Scooby-Doo franchise its love time and time again, releasing figurines based on the gang, its recurring villains and even that haunted house from the opening song. Now, it's releasing a figurine based on an admittedly rather controversial character: Scrappy-Doo.

According to Funko's official blog, a Scrappy-Doo figure is being released as a Funk Shop exclusive item. Priced at $15, the figurines have a limit of one item per purchase.

Scrappy-Doo has had quite an interesting history in the franchise. First appearing in the 1979 Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo animated series, where he is Scooby-Doo's nephew. Likely based off an early design of his uncle, who was originally conceived as a smaller dog, he is also portrayed as far more willing to get into danger.

With the advent of the internet, however, dislike for the character spread, with TV Tropes even designating unpopular characters "The Scrappy." Eventually, even later incarnations of the Scooby-Doo franchise would deliberately exclude the character or paint him in a negative light, with him even serving as a villain in the 2002 film.

It's almost tempting to think there's a reason it took so long for Scrappy to get his turn.
