New York Comic-Con will host Funimation's Sakura Park, a fully decorated "anime sanctuary" for con-goers to enjoy.

According to Funimation, the park will feature "aesthetic backdrops" ideal of photo opportunities and will be decorated with faux cherry blossom trees. The "Sakura Park" area will also host several branded food trucks for con-goers to enjoy, as well as special events such as merchandise giveaways and professional cosplay photoshoots. On October 7th, the company will host a subscriber-only party several blocks away from the convention at The Press Lounge, which will feature anime themed drinks, photo booths and other activities. The party will be free to all Funimation subscribers, though attendees will have to RSVP in advance, be 21 years of age or older, and must show their Comic-Con badge, proof of their Funimation subscription and proof that they have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

In addition to the parties, Funimation will also host several panels at the event, the first of which will be its general announcements panel, entitled "Anime Lives Here." The company will follow that up with Friday's My Hero Academia panel, which will feature the English cast of the highly anticipated World Heroes' Mission movie, which the company will release to theaters in the United States and Canada on Oct. 29. Finally, the streamer will host a Saturday screening of the record-shattering movie Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train, which will feature appearances from the movie's English dub voice actors.

“Funimation is excited to return to New York Comic Con in what has been a monumental year for anime and for the fan community,” said Gita Rebbapragada, Chief Marketing Officer of Funimation Global Group. “NYCC attendees and fans will truly feel welcomed and embraced into the world of anime with the activations and brand presence we have planned.”

Fans who can't make it to the event will be able to catch videos and livestreams throughout Comic-Con weekend on Funimation's various social media accounts and on its official YouTube channel.

New York Comic-Con will be held from Oct. 7-10 at New York City's Javits Center. Attendees will be required to wear masks and show proof of a full COVID-19 vaccination. Virtual tickets are also available that will give users access to livestreams and on-demand video of most of the show's panels.
