Fullmetal Alchemist released a new trailer.

The newest preview for the new live-action FMA movies shows off a fight scene from the first of the two films, The Vengeance of Scar. The clip shows the titular State Alchemist killer easily defeating both Edward and Alphonse Elric in their first meeting, as he uses his powers to break apart Al's suit of armor and effortlessly dismantle Ed's automail arm. The trailer also shows a few quick cuts of the movies' other action set pieces, including Scar's battle with King Bradley and a showdown with Father, the mysterious figure that's been manipulating the events of the series to suit his own needs. The Vengeance of Scar opens in Japan on May 20, and will be followed up by the premiere of the third and final entry in the live-action series, The Last Transmutation, on June 24.

An international release for both movies has yet to be announced. The first movie in the series was released in 2017 and was distributed outside of Japan as a Netflix streaming exclusive. Series creator Hiromu Arakawa created new art of Ed, Alphonse and Scar to promote the release of the new movies.

Ryosuke Yamada and Atomu Mizuishi, who played the siblings Edward and Alphonse in the first movie, will reprise their roles for the sequels. Joining them is actor and musician Dean Fujioka, who portrays the fan-favorite Flame Alchemist Roy Mustang, and Tsubasa Honda (Weathering With You) who will also reprise her role as Ed and Al's childhood friend, the automail engineer Winry Rockbell. Ping Pong director Fumihiko Sori will also return to direct both movies.
