Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood fans can now get a new outfit without having to draw a transmutation circle thanks to Crunchyroll Loves' new capsule collection.
The new collection features long-sleeve shirts and hoodies emblazoned with the characters and iconography from Hiromu Arakawa's critically acclaimed anime and manga series. The new collection is available for preorder now exclusively through the Crunchyroll Store, and will only be available until Oct. 4.
The new clothes feature Edward and Alphonse Elric, the central protagonists of Fullmetal Alchemist, which was originally published in Square Enix's Shonen Gangan magazine from 2001 - 2010. The series tells the story of the two brothers whose lives are forever changed after an attempt to resurrect their beloved mother using alchemy goes awry, which causes Edward to lose an arm and a leg, and Alphonse to lose his entire body. With Alphonse's soul now anchored to an old suit of armor, the two brothers set out to master the art of alchemy, regain their old bodies, and find the fabled Philosopher's Stone.
Fullmetal Alchemist was originally adapted into an anime series in 2003. This adaptation was directed by Seiji Mizushima, who would later go on to work on anime such as Mobile Suit Gundam OO and the upcoming movie Hula Fulla Dance. While the series was a commercial success, it was criticized for diverging too far from Hiromu Arakawa's original manga. A second anime series, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, was produced by studio BONES and presented a much more faithful adaptation of the source material. Brotherhood was released in 2009 to widespread critical acclaim.
Arakawa recently teased a new manga series, which will reportedly be set in feudal Japan and feature an archer as its main protagonist. More details about her new series and its premiere date have yet to be announced.
