In the steampunk fantasy world of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric embark on a journey to restore their damaged bodies, but they soon get swept into a sinister plan to dominate the globe! Father the Homunculus dreams big, and he's got many minions to enforce his will. One of them is the brutal alchemist Solf J. Kimblee, a veteran of the Ishval Civil War.

Unlike other vets, Kimblee enjoyed the slaughter, and to him, explosions and screaming are music! He's a creative and ruthless combatant, despite being rusty from a years-long prison term, and he fought against the likes of Scar and a powered-up Alphonse Elric. So now we ask: in a proper fight to the death, who are five Fullmetal Alchemist characters whom Kimblee could defeat, and which five would put an end to his rampage for good?

10 Can defeat: Edward Elric

What's this? Not even the main character can handle Kimblee? Bear in mind that while Ed is well trained and has advanced alchemy skills, he does not have the mind of a killer, and he prefers to disable and disorient opponents.

He and Kimblee fought once, and Kimblee used his ruthless side to trample all over Ed's "take them in alive" approach. Kimblee also boasts advanced alchemy and combat skills, and unlike Ed, he's willing to go for the throat!

9 Can't defeat: Hohenheim

If Edward perished in battle against Kimblee, then it's time for dear old dad to step in! Van Hohenheim, once known as Slave #23, is no ordinary alchemist. He is a living Philosopher's Stone, and he's experienced centuries of the best and worst of humanity alike.

His alchemy skills are through the roof, and he doesn't even have to move to reshape the matter around him. His deep experience, knowledge, and creativity can see him through a fight against just about anyone, and that includes Kimblee.

8 Can defeat: Gluttony

Let's be honest, the hulking homunculus known as Gluttony is a punching bag for half the cast! In a proper fight, Kimblee would rank among those can beat the stuffing out of him, and in all kinds of ways.

Gluttony couldn't put a scratch on Kimblee with his melee skills or bites, and even his false portal probably wouldn't give him an edge. Kimblee can evade whatever Gluttony throws at him, and kill him with explosions, spikes, falls, crushing his skull, anything and everything! At some point, Kimblee would start toying with Gluttony and still get away with it.

7 Can't defeat: Wrath

Here's another one of Father's homunculus minions, and this time, Kimblee is going down! Wrath was born as a mortal and trained along with other candidates to accept a Philosopher's Stone. Unlike those other candidates, Wrath became something more than human.

Now, Wrath's speed, sword strikes, and Ultimate Eye are too much for Kimblee to handle. In a close-range duel, those swords would slice Kimblee apart, and Wrath would see right through Kimblee's long-range alchemy attacks in other circumstances. Kimblee really doesn't have an angle here, and he'd be lucky to kill Wrath even once, let alone enough times to exhaust his Philosopher's Stone.

6 Can defeat: Greed

Three homunculi in a row and now the battle's tide turns back in Kimblee's favor. Greed is a martial artist, and he dueled Edward hand to hand and tried to take on Wrath. He roughly struck even with Ed, and Wrath clobbered him.

Greed's main asset is his Ultimate Shield, composed of diamond-hard carbon. Ed used alchemy to turn it soft like pencil lead, and in a duel, Kimblee would figure this out sooner or later as well. From there, Kimblee could finish off Greed with spikes and explosions and wear him down.

5 Can't defeat: Pride

Now for homunculus #4, and Kimblee is two for four against them. Pride is arguably the most powerful homunculus of all, having traits of the other six put together, from Lust's piercing spikes to Wrath's all-seeing eyes.

Kimblee would have his back to the wall against someone like this. Maybe he could use shadows and light to trap Pride and contain him in an alchemy-born container, but more likely, Pride would corner and stab him to death before that. Pride can attack from many angles at once, after all, and he's fast.

4 Can defeat: Lan Fan

This would be a close one since Lan Fan is a trained bodyguard who watches over Prince Ling with utter dedication. She could push Kimblee pretty far, but we're not so sure that she could finish him.

She ranks below Ed in martial arts skills, and Kimblee can make weapons and spikes to hold her off, or destabilize the ground and throw her aside with detonations. Kimblee just needs one clear shot, and he could pummel Lan Fan with a serious explosion or impale her with spikes. And she's got no Philosopher's Stone to regenerate her body at all.

3 Can't defeat: Roy Mustang

He is the Flame Alchemist, and that is saying a lot. Roy is an Ishval vet like Kimblee is, and he grimly carried out his duties there. Roy is not squeamish like Ed or Alex Armstrong are, so he can match Kimblee in sheer ruthlessness.

Not to mention Roy's fast, prodigious fire alchemy skills! He can use heavy-hitting flame assaults and small, nimble attacks alike, and this would push Kimblee to the brink. Roy would take a beating, fighting back against Kimblee's explosions and alchemy spikes, but Roy would eventually find an angle and roast Kimblee for all time!

2 Can defeat: Alex Louis Armstrong

This massive alchemist is a true gentleman, and he takes pride in his physique and his nimble alchemy alike. But as we mentioned in Roy's entry, Alex does not have the mind of a killer, a drawback he shares with Ed.

So, like Ed, Alex could give Kimblee a fight but wouldn't be able to deliver a final blow. Alex prefers honorable duels, but Kimblee fights dirty and has a ruthless streak that would give him an edge. Alex is going down for sure.

1 Can't defeat: Scar

The events of Fullmetal Alchemist show us that Scar is a brutal and skilled fighter, and he, like Roy, will go right for the throat, making him Kimblee's equal in that regard. He's also experienced in battle and has great instincts and reflexes.

Kimblee could do some real damage here, but Scar's destructive alchemy could shatter any of Kimblee's barriers, or break the ground under his feet. And if Scar uses his constructive alchemy (we saw him use it against Wrath), this duel will be over even quicker. And Scar will have his revenge at last.
