The hit animated series Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood closely follows the source manga. This is a world of steampunk technology, alchemy and Homunculi. Father is the arch-villain, and his seven Homunculi represent the seven deadly sins and are all capable fighters.

Wrath is unusual in that his Philosopher's Stone doesn't allow him to regenerate very much. However, he does have the Ultimate Eye, meaning he can easily see enemy attacks and evade them, no matter how quick they may be. Wrath is also an expert swordsman, ruthless and precise in combat. But despite all this, some anime characters are even deadlier than he is, for a variety of reasons.

10 Ulquiorra Cifer (Bleach)

Bleach Ulquiorra 1

Ulquiorra is an Arrancar, or a hollow that has torn off its skull mask and obtained a zanpakuto, along with a more humanoid body. He is a stoic and efficient fighter, always acting according to his calculations. He's far from the hotheaded type.

In addition to being a lethal swordsman on par with Wrath, Ulquiorra can also fire Cero blasts and Bala for ranged combat. On top of that, he can perform the Sonido, rapidly moving from one spot to another in the blink of an eye. And all that is without his ultra-powerful released form, Murcielago.

9 Rock Lee (Naruto)

Rock Lee Thumbs Up

Rock Lee seems rather goofy compared to Wrath, but he takes himself and his training incredibly seriously — and he's got some results to show for it. He focuses entirely on taijutsu, or melee combat, and his strength, speed and technique are off the charts.

This ninja can remove his ankle weights for added speed, and if his bone-crushing punches and kicks won't suffice, he can activate the first chakra gate, seize his opponent and demolish them with the Primary Lotus. Rock Lee may lack the Ultimate Eye, but he surpasses Wrath in all other regards.

8 Kagura Mikazuchi (Fairy Tail)

kagura fairy tail

Kagura is a sword-wielding wizard who belongs to the Mermaid Heel guild. Her swordsmanship is some of the best in all of anime, and she can devastate high-level opponents without even drawing her blade at all. Once she does draw it, she is nigh-unstoppable.

In addition to her advanced strength and swordplay, Kagura can use gravity magic, which is exactly what it sounds like. With such an ability, Kagura can flatten her opponents and render them helpless, preventing them from even trying to escape.

7 Genos (One-Punch Man)

Genos is a cyborg, and willingly became part machine to obtain the strength necessary to avenge his family's demise. He has certainly become more powerful; his robot body allowed him to qualify as an S-rank hero right out of the gate. That's unprecedented in the hero world.

What can he do? Genos boasts a very tough body that is loaded with offensive firepower, from the Iron Man-style energy blasters on his palms to the missiles that are stocked in his back. He's also got the superhuman reflexes and precision of a machine, to rival Wrath's Ultimate Eye.

6 Hawks (My Hero Academia)

Hawks is among the youngest heroes in the entire world, and he's also among the most powerful. He now ranks #2 officially, behind only the powerhouse Endeavor. His quirk gives him hawk-like wings on his back, but he can do more than just fly around.

Flying gives Hawks a lot of maneuverability, but he can also use his feathers as sharpened swords, and loose feathers can carry many people to safety at the same time. In addition, Hawks is incredibly fast, and he has advanced techniques as a hero. His skills are almost without equal.

5 Levi (Attack On Titan)

The Scout known as Levi can easily lead a squad into battle with great skill, and his experience and nerves of steel help round him out as a fighter. He has probably killed more Titans than the rest of his fellows put together.

Levi can use ODM gear and paring blades as though he were born with them, and with astonishing speed and grace, he can topple multiple Titans without taking return fire. Due to his advanced swordplay and maneuverability from ODM gear, he's definitely stronger than Wrath.

4 Yusuke Urameshi (Yu Yu Hakusho)

Yusuke giving a thumbs up in Yu Yu Hakusho.

This action hero dates back to the early 1990s, and he is a classic shonen character for a reason. Yusuke has trained extensively to become the top martial artist, and by the end of the series, he could challenge the kings of the demonic underworld.

Yusuke's speed, strength and instincts are through the roof, and he can also fire energy blasts from his finger, known as the Rei Gun. Even when tied up and pinned to the ground, he can demolish a whole field of ordinary martial artists, a feat few can match.

3 General Esdeath (Akame Ga Kill!)

Esdeath from Akame Ga Kill!

General Esdeath is a popular villain for a reason. She is one of the greatest antagonists that the Night Raid crew ever faces, and she wields the power of ice. On the field of battle, Esdeath can dispatch entire battalions of her enemies single-handedly, since her magic is usable on such a grand scale.

This makes her far more powerful than Wrath, and she also has a trump card effect that can be used exactly once if her ordinary powers aren't great enough. That, and she has a ruthless "survival of the fittest" view that fuels her ruthless ways.

2 Sho Kusakabe (Fire Force)

sho fire force

Sho Kusakabe is the little brother of Shinra Kusakabe, and he uses his pyrokinetics in a very different manner than Shinra's kick-based technique. Sho can control the entire universe's heat levels and cool it to absolute zero for a short time.

Doing so freezes all matter and time, allowing Sho to move uncontested. In that state of frozen time, Sho can slice his enemies apart with utter impunity, a feat Wrath could never match with his own swords. Not even the Ultimate Eye can see through that.

1 Josuke Higashikata (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure)

Josuke Higashikata from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

Josuke may not quite have Wrath's speed or his Ultimate Eye, but he does have some advantages over his Homunculus. For starters, Josuke has a more creative mind than Wrath, allowing him to turn the tables on his enemies in unexpected ways.

This works well with his stand, Crazy Diamond. It's a devastating melee stand that can also fix items, to various ends. It can heal a person aside from Josuke, break a wall to escape and reseal that wall behind it, or create projectiles by breaking something and have the broken piece fly through the air to get fixed onto the original. Such a creative and unpredictable fighting style is tough to beat.
