"The Predator Holiday Special," a tie-in to Shane Black’s The Predator, aired last night on Comedy Central during an episode of Bojack Horseman and the two minute and fifteen second short mixes the over-the-top violence and gore of The Predator with the holiday season in true Shane Black fashion.

The short begins at the North Pole, with animation referencing those classic Rankin/Bass shorts such as Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer or Santa Claus is Coming To Town. The short opens as Sprinkles the elf talks to reindeer Blitzen about Christmas. When a familiar red triangle lands on Blitzen, the docile reindeer grabs his Gatling gun and fires off-screen, only to end up with a hole in his chest. The traumatized elf runs through the snow-covered forest calling for back up, but -- upon running into the skinned corpse of Dasher -- he is found and impaled by the Predator himself.

The other reindeer, armed with green bandanas and machine guns, are nothing but easy prey for the Predator. He eventually crosses paths with Santa Claus, who calls to his last remaining reindeer Larry to take the Predator out. Naturally, Larry looks like Rambo but quotes like Schwarzenegger.

A family of Predators ultimately present Santa with a gift basket full of eggs, one of which suspiciously looks an Alien egg, as a sign of respect for besting the fallen warrior. The quick post-credits scene suggests that the North Pole isn’t done fending off extraterrestrial invaders just yet.

Directed by Shane Black from a script he wrote with Fred Dekker, The Predator stars Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Jacob Tremblay, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Sterling K. Brown, Alfie Allen, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Jake Busey and Yvonne Strahovski.
