The anime Fruits Basket is the story of Tohru Honda, who ends up moving in with three members of the mysterious Sohma family after becoming homeless. As it turns out, thirteen members of the family are cursed to transform into animals when hugged by the opposite sex.

Tohru immediately grows attached to the cat, Kyo, and the rat, Yuki. The story follows the three as they go through their last years or school and form new relationships together.

8 Yona of the Dawn

Yona of the Dawn is an ongoing series that follows Princess Yona, who is now living in secret after her father was murdered. Raised to think that the country she lived in was perfect, Yona is disturbed to see many parts of it in poverty.

The first meeting quickly goes sour, though, as Hana reveals her identity to Takane and calls the whole thing off. Takane is taken by Hana's attitude and then begins to try and woo her.

6 Sacrificial Princess and the King of Beasts

Sacrificial Princess is the perfect story to pick up for those who love to see star-crossed lovers. Sariphi is the 99 sacrifice to the beast king, but unlike the woman who came before her, she doesn't show fear, nor does she have an issue with being killed.

Her behavior mystifies the Beast King, Leonhart, who decided to spare the girl in order to better understand her. Sariphi slowly realizes the beast kingdom is where she truly belongs.

5 Baby & Me

This heartwarming series is about a boy and his little brother. After losing their mom, Takuya embraces the role of caring for his baby brother, Minoru. The story shows the strain of raising a child for a young pre-teen.

Throughout the series, the brothers start to grow up, and Takuya must learn to deal with difficult decisions about being a parent instead of having fun.

4 Kamisama Kiss

Kamisama Kiss is another incredibly popular series that debuted in Hana to Yume. The series follows a girl who lost her home due to her father's gambling, who has a chance encounter with a yokai.

3 The World is Still Beautiful

The World is Still Beautiful is a story about Nike, a princess who is sent off for a political marriage with the sun kingdom. After refusing the request of her new husband, though, she quickly finds herself on his bad side.

As it turns out, though, the sun king is extremely childish, which helps lead the series on as Nike has to learn to live with him.

2 Naimaku Zakari

Naimaku Zakari is another ongoing series that is set in highschool. The series focuses on Yuki, who is the manager of the basketball team, and Sho, a new member of the team who seems to do nothing but get on her nerves.

Things are even more complicated as Yuki is actually in love with the team's coach already, leaving Sho trying to win her over. The couple matures greatly in the manga, with Sho eventually becoming incredibly supportive.

1 Life so Happy

Life so Happy is another story with a heavy focus on children. Chiharu finds herself hired as the babysitter of two children who had to be adopted by their uncle. She is a hard worker who is more than happy to take care of the kids.

Seiji, their uncle is striving to be a good father, but his schedule is hectic, leaving him with little time to spend with the kids. The two work together to help raise the twins and give them a healthy childhood.
