The Matrix Resurrections star Jonathan Groff commented on the likelihood of further installments in either the Frozen or Mindhunter franchises.

While appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Groff was asked about the future of Disney and Netflix's respective projects, namely which was more likely to happen: Frozen 3 or a third season of Mindhunter. "I feel like, even though those projects seem very different, Frozen and Mindhunter, I feel like Frozen and a third season of Mindhunter are equally possible," Groff said.

Netflix's Mindhunter has been on an indefinite hiatus following the completion of its second season, after the show's cast members, including Groff, were released from their contracts in January 2020 so executive producer David Fincher could focus on other projects. At the time, those projects were his first film for Netflix, Mank, and producing the second season of Love, Death and Robots. "He may revisit Mindhunter again in the future, but in the meantime felt it wasn't fair to the actors to hold them from seeking other work while he was exploring new work of his own," Netflix said.

However, in April 2021, sources close to Netflix suggested that the streamer and Fincher were having discussions about the show's possible return. "All I can really tell you about Mindhunter is that conversations between Netflix and Fincher are ongoing," the source said. "They are discussing the possibility of bringing the show back for a third season. It's still very early days, but Fincher sounds more upbeat about the project."

The first season of Mindhunter premiered on Netflix in 2017 and would return for a second season in 2019. Based on the work of criminal profiler John E. Douglas, Mindhunter follows FBI agents Holden Ford, played by Groff, and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) along with psychologist Wendy Carr (Anna Torv) as the three profile convicted serial killers in the '70s and '80s. Both seasons of Mindhunter are now available for streaming on Netflix.

As Groff stated, while Mindhunter remains up in the air, Frozen 3 seems just as likely to happen. In 2019, it was confirmed by producer Peter Del Vecho and co-writers/directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck that Frozen 2 was written as the conclusion to Elsa and Anna's stories. However, Lee did suggest that while Frozen's story feels complete, she wouldn't rule anything out entirely.

2019's Frozen 2 saw Groff return as Kristoff, reuniting with fellow voice actors Idina Menzel as Elsa, Kristen Bell as Anna and Josh Gad as Olaf.
