The first trailer has arrived for director Jason Reitman's political drama The Front Runner, which stars Hugh Jackman as failed 1988 presidential candidate Gary Hart.

The trailer shows Hart, a Democratic senator, embroiled in scandal and struggling to keep his political ambitions alive despite press coverage of an extramarital affair with Donna Rice.

Hart began as one of the most popular candidates in 1988, but publicity surrounding his affair damaged his popularity. Media coverage of the scandal forced Hart to withdraw from the race, forever changing American politics in the process. The film adapts All the Truth is Out, a book by Matt Bai.
