Fringe Production Shuts Down Because of John Noble's Illness

Production of the final season of Fringe has shut for two weeks so star John Noble can be treated for a sleep disorder.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, filming had already been affected by co-star Jaskia Nicole's car accident and multiple cast sicknesses when it was stopped Tuesday because of Noble's illness. Although the delay was initially said to be three days, it will be extended to nine, with production restarting on Aug. 7. The delay won't affect the series' Sept. 28 premiere on Fox.

The 63-year old Noble plays eccentric scientist Walter Bishop in the sci-fi series. Fox renewed Fringe in April for a 13-episode fifth and final season that will allow the writers to finish the series the way they want.
