One way to get, and keep, female customers is to stock the best, most
diverse books. But how do retailers wade through the blizzard of
comics being published to find the best material?
Friends of Lulu has established a program to help retailers identify
good comics by giving them more than just a name and cover.
Members of the Retailer Alert Network will receive a bimonthly mailing
that includes story excerpts and promotional material from small
publishers. The package will also include the latest list of titles
recommended by the Friends of Lulu Comics Review Board.
There is no charge to retailers or to publishers and creators. Any
retailer may sign up to receive Retailer Alert Network mailings.
Publishers and creators must be members of Friends of Lulu in order to
have their material included.
The first deadline for material from publishers and creators is June
28. The first bimonthly packets will go out to interested retailers in

send their name, store name and address to Friends of Lulu, 556 S. Fair
Oaks Ave. #148, Pasadena, CA 91105, or email it to
email@example.com. They can also fill out a flyer included in
Friends of Lulu (www.friends-lulu.org) is a nonprofit organization
dedicated to increasing the participation of women in comics, as
readers and as creators. The Retailer Alert Network is their latest
effort to assist retailers, joining projects such as How to Get Girls
(Into Your Store), the Friends of Lulu Retailer Handbook (full text
available on the Friends of Lulu website), the Lulu Recommended Reading
List, and the Lulu Awards.
The Retailer Alert Network program is funded in part by a grant from
