Friends fans will likely remember Ross Gellar's pet monkey, Marcel. FX CEO John Landgraf has now revealed Katie, the capuchin who played Marcel, also starred in the pilot for Y: The Last Man as Ampersand, protagonist Yorick Brown's pet monkey.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Landgraf, who worked on Friends when Katie was on the classic sitcom, said he recognized her while watching dailies. "I recognize Jennifer Aniston, I recognize Courtney Cox and I recognize that monkey," he said. "There's nothing like a really experienced actor who knows how to hit their mark... [She's] still as good!" Katie's animal trainer later confirmed the monkey, who is now nearly in her 30s, indeed appeared in the show.

Due to showrunner changes on Y: The Last Man, it's unclear if Katie will continue her role as Ampersand or be replaced with CGI past the pilot episode.

Based on Y: The Last Man, the critically-acclaimed early 2000s Vertigo Comics series by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra, the series follows Yorick Brown and Ampersand as they navigate a world where a plague has wiped out every other male mammal on Earth.

Y: The Last Man stars Diane Lane as Senator Jennifer Brown, Barry Keoghan as Yorick Brown, Imogen Poots as Hero Brown, Lashana Lynch as Agent 355, Juliana Canfield as Beth, Marin Ireland as Nora, Amber Tamblyn as Mariette Callows and Timothy Hutton as the U.S. President. The series is expected to premiere on FX in 2020.
